The Story of Amartia Entertainment
in Baltimore, Maryland

Amartia the Bellydancer

Amartia is an award-winning belly dancer although based out of Abingdon, has competed, performed and taught all around the United States. She prides herself on providing the most extravagant Entertainment in Baltimore.

How did she get started? Well, she stumbled upon belly dancing class at a local gym and has never looked back! Bellydance appealed to her not only as an art form but a way to stay in shape. Hence one spectator commenting, “…massive melodic muscles of the Mediterranean (aka killer abs).” Her style can be best described as Modern Egyptian/ Lebanese cabaret. However, given her Greek heritage and many years of training she has been able to combine those styles into her own form of fusion, Greco-Egyptian Cabaret.

She is a regular belly dancer at Bombay Nights, Sizzling Bombay, and Taste of Taj Indian Cuisine. She has also performed nationwide at Rakkasah West and East, at the Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive, at La Danse Oriental, at The Blue Monk, and at the Hawthorne in Oregon.  Amartia also makes time for local events such as the Lasos Day of Cultures and the Chesapeake North American Region Arc Gala.

Amartia is an award-winning bellydancer. She has traveled to compete all over the United States. She is the 2008 Jewel of the Nile and the first place winner for veil dance from Arabian Nights. More recently she was one of the 23 belly dancers chosen to compete in the first season of a reality web-show- Project bellydance! Amartia has also been featured in Fuse Magazine and was the July 2012 Bellydancer of the Month for Brandon’s Oasis

Amartia the Greek

Amartia was not dubbed The Greek Bellydance Bombshell for nothing! Amartia is a Baltimore native of Greek descent. She was involved in Greek Folk dancing from childhood to adulthood. She has always incorporated Greek music and stylings into her performances. Her quest to put all things Greek on the forefront, made her stand out to HGTV producers such that they asked her to teach Greek dance and bellydance on one of their Greek crossover episodes! It was filmed in Greek town and aired when My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 was in theaters.

Amartia the Costume Designer

In the world of bellydance, Amartia is known for her enthusiasm, her sass, her professionalism and lastly her costuming. From the couture to the urban flair, Amartia has earned herself the title “The Carrie Bradshaw of Bellydance.” Audience members never know what they are going to get from Amartia and in the best way possible.

Amartia has always been very specific about what she wants out of her costumes and each is specifically designed with a theme in mind. While they have a theme, her costumes are not Halloween party favors. They must maintain a level of quality and couture that anyone that catches her performances has come to expect. For that purpose, she has decided to collaborate on her own line, exclusively with MAZ Couture. MAZ understands Amartia’s vision and how important it is to her and the world of dance.

“Urban, Greco, Intelligent and Sassy”

Amartia’s line, debuting in 2016, is the culmination of all of her designs with MAZ.  Her line not only encompasses her Carrie Bradshaw city chic self but also her Greek heritage. Far too often, the Hellenic heritage is borrowed, bartered, and stripped down without paying true homage to its roots. Amartia and MAZ want to show the world that Greek style is more than just a Greek key design and a drape.

Amartia’s line with MAZ is showcasing Greek culture as it is now: a blend of the past, present and the future.

Amartia the BellyMogul

Not only does she manage to find time in her busy schedule to dance but she also has taken the time to learn about marketing and social media. Amartia is trained in the Hootsuite platform as well as social media marketing. She has created her own BellyMogul program to help dancers get, and keep, those weekly restaurant gigs. She is also the social media manager for a bellydance costume and prop company.

Amartia takes the time to post business tips and tricks to her own blog as well as contributing to other blogs and sites such as Shira.net. Her writing skills and conversational tone have also caused her articles on Greek bellydance to be published in Zaghareet magazine and MECDA happenings.

Just this past August she also put on a Greek takeover event of the monthly Baltimore All Seasons Hafla that was a huge success! There may be one in 2017!
